# Popup forms

> Open a form in a popup from a button, on page load, after a delay, on scroll or on exit intent.

A popup keeps the form out of the way until you want it. It works well for feedback, contact and lead forms that shouldn't take over the page.

## Set it up

Open the **Share** tab, choose **Popup** under **Embed on your site**, and set these options:

| Option | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Open** | When the popup appears: **On button click**, **On page load**, **After elapsed time**, **On exit intent** or **After scrolling**. Elapsed time asks for a delay in seconds. Scrolling asks for a percentage of the page. |
| **Position** | **Bottom right corner**, **Bottom left corner** or **Center**. Bottom left also left-aligns the form's content. |
| **Button text** | The label on the trigger button. Only shown for **On button click**. |
| **Width** | 280 to 800 px. |
| **Dark overlay** | Dims the page behind the popup. |
| **Hide on submit** | Closes the popup a moment after someone submits. |
| **Show only once** | Opens automatically at most once per visitor. Not available for button click. |
| **Don't show after submit** | Stops opening automatically for people who've already submitted. Not available for button click. |

The last two are remembered in the visitor's browser.

Copy the generated code and paste it anywhere on the page, ideally just before the closing `</body>` tag.

## Things to watch for

Keep the trigger away from cookie banners, chat widgets and mobile navigation. One popup per page is plenty unless each has a clearly different job.

To test **Show only once** or **Don't show after submit**, use a private window. Otherwise your own browser storage will get in the way.
