# Close or limit a form

> Stop accepting responses manually, on a schedule, or after a total is reached.

## Close a form now

Open **Settings**, turn on **Close form**, and save. A Hosted form shows a closed notice instead of the questions. An Endpoint form rejects new requests, so your interface should show its own helpful message.

## Schedule a closing time

Turn on **Schedule a close date**, choose a date and time, and save. The time is interpreted using the timezone shown beside the setting.

If you choose a time in the past, the form closes immediately.

## Set a response limit

Turn on **Limit number of submissions** and enter the maximum total. New responses are rejected when the limit is reached.

This setting is available only for Hosted forms. Endpoint forms are still subject to the account's monthly response allowance.

## Write a helpful closed message

Enable **Closed form message** and explain why the form is unavailable or where the visitor should go instead.

This message is part of the Hosted form interface. With an Endpoint form, display the closed message in your own website or application.

<Info>
  **Existing responses stay available.** Closing a form affects new submissions. You can still review and export responses already received.
